Swim to 5K

After completing 2.5km at my Swimathon event I now want to see how long it will take me to be able to swim 5km in one session (which I hope to do at Swimathon 2011!)... 
This ticker will let you know the distance I am currently at (updated as needed)










Egyptian Coast Swim challenge (ww Boards)
19th April - 31st May 2010

I have set myself a challenge of virtually swimming 24km along the Egyptian Coast .
***COMPLETED! --- 21st May!


















English Channel Swim --- (ww boards)
14th June - 31st July 2010

During the weeks listed above I hope to swim the total of the shortest crossing of the English Channel .. a distance of 35km, 425m

Swim the Red Sea --- 18 month Challenge
March 2010- August 2011

I hope over the course of 18 months to have swam the distance of the widest part of the Red Sea.  A total of 350km! I plan to complete this by just before my youngest daughter starts half-day nursery as I will then have more time to myself and can set a new more ambious challenge to make the most of my then thiner and fitter self :-)
I will update this at the end of each month

My Current Swimfit Programme

WARM UP
20 lengths (400m) continuous swimming Breast Stroke;
using SKPS – swim, kick (legs only), pull (arms only), swim, changing every length.

ONE MIN REST

SKILL DEVELOPMENT
10 x 1 length (250m) Back Crawl.
10 x 1 length (250m) Breast Stroke.
15 Sec Rest between each length

MAIN SET
5 x 4 lengths (400m) Front Crawl - Alternate 1 x Fast speed, 1 x slow speed
30 seconds rest between each four lengths

8 x 1 length (100m) kicking only.
20 seconds rest after each length

5 x 4 lengths (400m) Front Crawl - Alternate 1 x Fast speed, 1 x slow speed
30 seconds rest between each four lengths

COOL DOWN
8 lengths (200m) continuous slow swimming - Breast Stroke

TOTAL = 2400 Metres
